Sea Anchor
A sea anchor is a safety item for sea kayakers. It can prevent a kayaker from drifting offshore in the event of a strong wind blowing from land to sea. We developed this sea anchor for ourselves some years ago because we were not happy with what existed. Our sea anchor stores on deck in a small stuff sack. It is deployed simply by attaching to the kayak's bow line and pushing it into the water. The diameter of the sea anchor funnel, at its widest opening is 84cm (34") and tapers to a 16cm (7.5") circumference at its narrowest end.

Personal Tether
The personal tether attaches you to your kayak so that you cannot be separated from it in the event of a wet exit. Ours features a very small stuff sack which holds approximately 4.5 meters (15 ft.) of webbing. One end of the webbing is attached to the kayak. The other end is attached to either a quick release waist-belt, or to your PFD. We especially recommend the tether for our sit-on-top kayaks. If you fall off in heavy wind you may not be able to swim as fast as your kayak is drifting. Always detach the tether before entering beach surf to avoid entanglement.

The 24" inch pump is recommended for use with the deeper kayaks, the K1, K2 and Klondike. The extra length ensures the water is clearing the cockpit. The 15" is recommended for the shallower kayaks, the Khatsalano, Kahuna's and Wisper.

Feathercraft Float Bags
Our float bags are made from urethane coated rip-stop nylon. Urethane welds more securely and is much stronger than vinyl. The rip-stop nylon fabric is very robust. Since using this fabric, we no longer need to use an additional over-bag.
We strongly recommend that the float-bags be used at all times (unless the compartments are filled up with gear in water-proof storage bags). If the bags have been deflated, and remain in the kayak, ensure the valve is closed. Water can enter the bag through an open valve.
As well, always use the sea sock.
