Tom Stammer’s Alaska Trip
To celebrate his 60th year, Tom Stammer and his Big Kahuna paddled from his home in Port Townsend, WA to Tongus Island, Alaska. This solo paddling trip was 49 days and 597 nautical miles, with a variety of weather, and encounters with colourful locals and wildlife. In Tongas, he packed up his kayak for the return trip home – by float plane, ferry and bus.
