Kayaks
A Feathercraft kayak is a unique combination of state of the art technology, cutting edge materials, and old fashioned passion. Compromise is not an option. Ingenious design features are incorporated into each model.
The framework assembly of each model has similar characteristics, yet each is uniquely different. Frame tubing is aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum magnesium alloy. Longitudinal sections are shock-corded together like tent poles, and tubes are colour-coded. To minimize assembly steps, chine and gunwale tubes for both bow and stern frame sections are permanently attached to keel reinforcement plates. Deck bars are used as lever bars to extend the frame sections tightly into the skin. No additional tools are required for assembly. Because the framework is sectional, an individual section can easily be repaired or replaced should damage occur. Crosspieces are either hand-cut from high density polyethylene, or are injected molded polycarbonate, depending on the model.
Feathercraft kayaks are renowned for having the most comfortable seats you'll find in a kayak. A foam cushion with a molded seat bottom and inflatable lumbar support rest on a fabric sling, suspended from the kayak's frame. The built-in coaming system simplifies assembly, and still allows the use of a standard spray skirt and individual sea sock. Nylon spray skirts and sea socks are made from high tenacity 420 denier urethane coated packcloth and seam taped. Sponsons are air tubes welded from supported urethane, and are inside the skin on each side of our sit-in models. Four large sponsons create the platform of our sit-on-top models. Each sponson is inside a protective fabric sleeve and is easily removed for repair or replacement. When not included as standard, a sturdy, easy to use rudder is an available option. And to wrap it all together, the welded Polytech deck with Duratek hull is our revolutionary Sealskin technology that keeps the water out!
Where in the world do you want to paddle?
Every Feathercraft kayak comes with, and folds up into, its own pack. The travel-style backpack is standard with all single kayaks, and features a fully adjustable, ladder-suspension system, padded shoulder straps and wide hipbelt. An optional shipping bag is available as an overbag to protect the travel-pack during airline travel. Our double models are stored in a single duffel bag.
Shipping bag
A nylon over-the-shoulder bag is included as standard with the doubles to split the load for easier handling.
