New Tariffs on Feathercraft Shipments to the U.S.A.
Our parts made of aluminum are now subject to 200% Trump tariffs, plus 20% additional handling fees for border clearance. This 200% tariff is in retaliation to Russia. One extension bar valued at CAD $120 had tariffs plus handling fees assessed at 225% equalling CAD $274 (USD $197).

It's been a decade since closing our shop on Granville Island and becoming a basement cottage industry. The required documentation for customs no longer exists. The cost to work with brokers can not be justified for the small volume of goods shipped to the U.S.
Our 6061-T6 aluminum tubing came from Chandler, Arizona. Likely some of their aluminum stock originated from Canada. The U.S. consumes about 4 -5 million tonnes of aluminum a year but produces only 675 - 750,000 tonnes. It does not have enough hydro power to make much more, especially with climate change and power demands for data centres. Most of the short-fall comes from Canada. The likelihood of top grade aluminum in North America having been sourced from Russia is far-fetched.
Most other products are being assessed a 60% tariff.
It may be refreshing to remember, after Chairman Mao, a period of change and recovery lasted over twelve years.
We can no longer ship to 12 European countries
The European Union has introduced customs duties on parcels imported from outside the Bloc valued at € 150 or less (about CAD $240).
The Canada Postal Service says on its website that it is not accepting parcels destined for a dozen countries until further notice. They include Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal and Spain. (Phew!)
Shipping via U.P.S. or other courier services is expensive and now requires the sender to have an IOSS (Import One-Stop Shop) number, and use an agent to ensure European VAT and other taxes are prepaid. This service has annual fees and is too expensive for occasional small shipments.
Canada Post also says it will continue accepting shipments to other EU destinations where Delivered Duties Unpaid (DDU) - an agreement in which the purchaser pays the duty - is feasible in Poland, Latvia and Sweden.
We can still ship to Switzerland, United Kingdom and other European countries, as well as to all parts of Canada (for now!).
